The Gurukul Nilokheri has been serving the society by rendering its services to hone the students intellectually, spiritually, socially and physically since its inception in 2016. Since the dawn of civilisation man has focused on sound health. As goes the adage, Healthy mind rests on the healthy body. Sports play a pivotal role in making our health sound. Sports are the integral part of the general education which is concerned with the growth of cognitive, affective and physical domain of the students. To walk in dignity holding the head high fearlessly is the perfect portrait of a true sports person. It bestows creativity, sound health and improves physical efficiency. It enriches our knowledge about games, develops dashing personality and improves social qualities. It is the harbinger of many attributes and values such as patience, tolerance, unity, integrity of character, conviction of courage, cooperation, sense of fraternity and sympathetic attitude. It grooms the leadership quality which enables the students to take initiative to lead from the front and to guide others in performing some daunting task within a given time. Sport is a culture in our school. Our students have the proud privilege to have a vast playground studded with many courts and particular ground for particular game. Sports culture is to cultivate the indomitable spirit and never say die attitude among the students who usually display humility in victory and cheerfulness in defeat. Sport is an attitude which prepares the students to imbue all the qualities to lead a dignified life. The students have a burning desire and insatiable zeal to hog limelight by outshining others. The students at The Gurukul Nilokheri are not trained professionally. They play to refresh the self, invigorate the body and energise the spirit. But when they vie up with those who are trained in sports academies, they show their sporting prowess & emerge champion. The medal tally & position they get, speak high volume of their passion for sports. Athletic, Archery, Taekwondo, Volleyball, Handball, Basket Ball, Skating, Malkhambh, Football, Gymnasticc, Tennis and Kho-Kho are the games which urge the unbridled will of the students to emerge victorious not only in sports but also in the game of life.

Volleyball

Volleyball is a physically demanding sport that takes skill and athletic ability. The Gurukul offers volleyball to its students; we do have 4 volleyball courts in our eco–friendly campus. This particular game helps all the Gurukulians to grow equally at all phases of life i.e.- physically, emotionally and psychologically. The unconditional support and training is available by our qualified volleyball coaches.

 

Basketball

 

The basic purpose of this sport is to introduce students to the fundamental skills and knowledge associated with basketball. At The Gurukul, we have three basketball courts where students develop their physical fitness and acquire new heights of concepts and practice with their personal and social skills. Students gain an understanding of how a wellness lifestyle affects one’s health, fitness and physical performance.

Football

In the very premises of The Gurukul, we are equipped with three well maintained grassy football fields where students are being offered new experience to develop confidence, self–esteem, knowledge, physical development and in some cases the opportunity to participate in elite–level competition at different level. The Gurukul Nilokheri football game provides an opportunity to create a relevant, coherent and engaging environment for all players.

Gymnastics

Gymnastics is a physical exercise that develops and shows the body’s strength and the ability to move and bend easily. Basically, it takesits name from the Greek word ‘NAKED’. It is very complex sport involving the performance of exercises requiring physical strength, flexibility, control, quickness, synchronisation, grace and balance. At The Gurukul, we serve our children this wonderful game under the ample guidance of experienced coaches

 

Kho–Kho

Kho–Kho is a traditional sport that dates back to ancient India. It is the second most popular traditional game in the Indian subcontinent after Kabaddi. Here we have two well–maintained Kho–Kho grounds where Gurukulianss how case their potentials by pacing with physical and mental changes that help them to grow in their individual achievement and growth.

Handball

Handball is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal, as it is the only game without protective equipments that enables the players to face some physical and mental injuries that remains the root objective of sports. The Gurukulians are always observed and trained by our well–qualified and veteran handball coaches in our two handball grounds.

Mallakhamba

Mallakhamba is a traditional sport, originated from the Indian subcontinent in which a gymnast performs aerial yoga or gymnastic postures and wrestling grips in concert with a vertical stationary or hanging wooden pole, cane/rope. Here the pole is usually made of “Sheesham” polished with castor oil. Three popular versions of Mallakhambaare practiced using a sheesham pole, cane or rope in The Gurukul Nilokheri under the active observation of our expert team and coaches individually.

Yoga

Yoga is a process through which one learns how to live a life in the most integrated way. Yoga is viewed at one level as a science of personal growth for spiritual experienceand can be viewed at the therapy level as a science of health and healing. Today, yoga has become a necessity for people living in cities because yoga imparts a sense of peace Yoga is not compulsory but a possible necessity for those Gurukulians who find the daily schedule hectic.

Archery

Since its inception in 2016, The Gurukul Nilokheri, has been sending its archers to participate in annual intensive training cum coaching camp with famous archers. Testifying to the success of this additional training, many Gurukulians have participated and represented The Gurukul at various level of competition. Historically archery has been used for hunting and combat. In modern times, it is mainly a competitive sport and recreational activity.

Skating

SKATE, also known as the game of Skate, is a skateboarding game where skates attempt to perform each other’s tricks in succession until all but one player is eliminated. Being a lifetime fitness sport, well–suited for both children and adults, here, at The Gurukul, we help the students to develop their motor skills, balance, agility and coordination. It works most on muscle group, Glutes, Quads, Abs, Calves and Arms also, it reduces stress, boosts mood and improves ability to concentrate.

Taekwondo

Through rigorous training, The Gurukulians build physical strength, alertness, endurance along with mental strength and self–discipline at an early stage in life. Combat sports today are organized as an art form and are considered to be amazing beneficial for enhancing the functioning of all of our senses. Here, Taekwondo, is of paramount importance for each Gurukulian in learning self-defence especially during these days.

Athletics

Athletics, here, it comprises‘field’ and ‘track’ formation in which the students are trained like Marathon, Race and Long Jump, High Jump etc. Through athletics, the students learn to stretch their ability and enhance their stamina. They are encouraged to try harder each time they perform by boosting their morale.
